How To Install a Viper Car Alarm

A Viper car alarm can keep your car safe from danger and thieves.  Putting in a Viper system is easy if you know how car electrical systems work.  You will use twelve wires in your installation.  Some of the wires will be spliced with other wires and others are grounds for the system.  You should install the system if you are comfortable with the methods to get it done.

Items needed:

  • Electrical tape

  • Wire strippers

  • Alarm wiring harness

  • Screwdrivers

  • Screws

Instructions:

  1. Join the white and red wire to the trunk release button wire.  Take off the plastic coating from both wires and put them next to each other.  Tape the wires together with some electrical tape.

  2. Take the fuse from the red wire and join it to the positive power terminal on the car battery.  This gives the alarm 12V of power.  Take a small nut and use it to hold the wire in place onto the terminal.

  3. Take the siren and screw it to the bottom of the hood.  Be sure to keep it close to the wiring harness to prevent stretching wires.  Splice the brown wire coming from the wiring harness to the red wire on the siren.  Put the black siren underneath a screw attached to the hood.

  4. Search for the yellow harness wire from the harness and join it to the positive ignition wire.  Use the wire scrapers and some electrical tape to splice them together.

  5. Put the black harness wire’s metal ring terminal around the metal screw in the hood and screw it back in place.  The alarm system will be grounded when it isn’t armed.  Be sure that there are no wires under any of the screws for the ground wires.

  6. Take the purple harness wire and splice it with the positive wire for the dome light wire.  Finish the circuit by splicing the green harness wire with the negative wire for the dome light.  Plug the black and white harness wire in the dome light circuit.

  7. Join the blue harness wire to the sensor pins for the trunk and hood.  Attach them by wrapping them around the sensor pin using a screwdriver.

  8. Take some electrical tape and wrap it around the end of the white and blue wire.  Tape it to the hood.  Splice the white wire to the parking light relay switch wire.
