How To Keep Ants Out of a Pool
Pools are fun and great to cool off in during the summer time, but ants can ruin your fun real quickly. There’s nothing more disturbing than to get ready for a nice cool swim and discover your pool is infested with ants. There are things you can do to get rid of the ants and keep them from swimming when you should be.
Pool Covers
Consider purchasing a pool cover for your pool when you are not using it. Make sure you purchase the correct size, and this should help eliminate ants from taking over your pool. If the pool cover does not do the job completely, you may have to use chemicals.
Cleanliness
Keep your pool clean at all times. You should check your pool on a daily basis for any type of debris. If there is debris in your pool, make sure you clean it out right away. Avoid leaving food and soft drinks around the pool, this will definitely attract ants to your pool area.
Ant Chemicals
Check in your home improvement stores for chemicals that will kill ants but are safe to use around your pool. You want to make sure you use a product that will not harm the pH levels of your pools water if exposed to it.
Ant Colonies
Locate the colonies of the ants. There may be more than one colony. You probably will not find the colony nowhere near the pool. Look in areas where there is grass and dirt. Once you find the ant colonies soak the various locations with insecticide. Make sure the insecticide does say it works on ants.
