How To Keep Non-Registered Guests From Using Hotel Pools

Hotel management faces tough challenges when trying to keep out non-registered guests from entering the pool area. It is not always easy to ascertain who is a registered hotel guest from those who are not registered. Although it can increase the workload of the hotel staff, there are ways to keep non-registered guests from using hotel pools.

Update hotel policies.

Updating hotel policies and incorporating new swimming pool use stipulations can decrease the number of non-registered guests from swimming the pool. For example, by mandating that all people using the swimming pool provide proof of hotel registration, you will reduce the risk of non-guests from using the pool.

Have staff man the pool entrance.

Strategically place hotel staff near the swimming pool entrances to check proof of registration so that non-guests cannot sneak into the pool area. Having visible staff around will discourage people from trying to sneak in the swimming pool area without being registered guests of the hotel.

Post signs.

Signs stating, "No unregistered hotel guest can use the swimming pool" might be just the thing to discourage unauthorized swimming pool use. In addition, signage can state that law enforcement will be notified in the event that non-registered guests are caught swimming in the hotel pool.

Mandate the use of swim passes.

To discourage non-registered guests from using the pool, mandate that prior to accessing the swimming pool area, swimmers must acquire passes from the front desk. To receive pool passes, guests must show proof of their registration, or no passes will be issued.
