How To Make Wooden Dog Food Storage Bin

Many dog owners experience problems with dog food bags; examples include bags breaking resulting in large messes, and mischievous dogs chewing their way through the bag in order to help themselves to extra food. Building a wooden dog food storage bin is an excellent way to prevent these problems.

  1. Acquire the wood you need to build the shed. You will probably be required to make a few cuts in order to obtain the right dimensions for the different sections. You will need four pieces of half-inch pine board that are 15 inches in width and 20 inches in length, four one-by-one boards cut at 19.5-inches, and two pieces of half-inch pine board that are 15-inches in width and length.

  2. Attach each of the one-by-one board to the corners of one of the 15-by-15 pieces of pine board, which will serve as the bottom of the dog food bin. Fasten the boards with one 1.5-inch screw in each board.

  3. Attach the 15-by-20 pieces of pine board to each side of the frame that was formed when you fastened the one-by-one boards to the 15-by-15 section of pine board. Fasten the boards with one-inch screws, and ensure that the screw is completely embedded in the board to prevent anyone from being punctured when they put their hand in the container.

  4. Attach the other 15-by-15 pine board to the top of the bin. This is done by fixing two small hinges to the piece of pine board before attaching it to one of the pine boards that have formed the sides of the bin.
