How To Make Zipper Jewelry
Trends come and go very fast. One now is zipper jewelry. It is a unique and fun way to be fashion forward, yet stand out from the crowd. Instead of throwing away those old jeans, you can be creative and make your own homemade zipper jewelry. Not only is this fun and innovative, but you can take pride in your handiwork.
What you'll need:
- Old zippers
- Scissors
- Lighter
- Jump rings
- Lobster clasps
- Hot glue gun
- Earring hooks
- Jewelry pliers
Instructions:
- Find a zipper that has enough length to fit around your wrist. They usually come anywhere between six and nine inches.
- Remove all of the fabric tape around the zipper with the scissors. Be sure to cut them in a neat manner, so you will not have raggedy zipper jewelry.
- Take the lighter and melt the surrounding fabric. This will let your jewelry appear more sleek and glossy.
- Put the lobster clasp on the jump ring and close it tightly with the pliers.
- Place the lobster clasp and the ring to the end of the zipper tab using the hot glue gun. Be sure that you position the clasp in the correct way.
- Allow jewelry to dry for a couple of hours.
- Make matching earrings. Remove the zipper pulls from a zipper of the same color using the pliers. Add a jump ring of the same color the middle of the zipper pull and tighten. Then attach an earring hook to each jump ring.
