How To Mix Urethane Auto Paint

Replacing acryllic paint, urethane auto paint is the most commonly used to paint automobiles.  Urethane paint is easier to apply and gives a more even coat. Also, it is not sensitive to ultra violet rays, making it a pefect choice for something that will be in the sun a lot. Mixing the paint can be accomplished easily.

Instructions:

  1. Choose an area very well ventilated. You should open windows and doors so that the air can circulate. This is very important so that you will not feel light-headed or dizzy from inhaling the paint fumes.

  2. Pick your colors. Urethane paint comes in 50 different base colors. It is important to pick name brands like Sherwin Williams and DuPont because they offer exact color matching. You will be able to touch up your paint with no trouble in the future if you choose one of these.

  3. Mix your paint. You should always use a clean bucket to mix your paint.  Drain the paint with a filter to remove any metallic clumps. Then mix the colors you want to use and stir with a clean paint stick.

  4. Follow the paint instructions if you want to add a hardener and reducer.  Only mix the amount of paint you plan to use.

  5. Paint quickly. Urethane auto paint dries pretty fast because it is activated by hardeners. It usually takes about two to four hours before it is completely dired out.
