How To Remove a Spa Light

Spa lights sometimes get a leak or burn out and need to be replaced. Removing your light can be difficult or easy, depending on how the light was installed. You will want to drain your spa and have a dry area to work in. After you have replaced your spa light, allow 24 hours before filling with water. Purchase your new assembly kit before starting.

Items Needed

  • Screwdriver

  • Hole saw

Directions

  1. Empty your spa.

  2. Remove the screw from the plate that holds your light in place.

  3. When you take the cover off, you might discover that the spa light and nut is glued in. If this is the case, you will need to cut your old light out.

  4. Drive a small hole in the center of the light.

  5. Using a hole saw, carefully separate the light from the wall.

  6. You can now break and pull out the old light and nut.

Some spas simply use screws to hold the lights in. If this is the case, you can unscrew it, pull it out, and replace with your new assembly. Make sure to clean out all the old glue before replacing.
