  • Remove any personal items from your car. Make sure you take out everything you do not want to sell along with the vehicle. If you have special rims on your car or radio systems installed this would actually make the value of the car rise, but if you do not want to sell them along with the car remove them.

  • Allow the prospective buyer to take the car on a test drive. They may ask to have the car looked over by their mechanic. Be prepared to go along for the ride.

  • Fill out the bill of sale. Make sure you and the buyer sign the copy. Give the buyer the title, registration information and keys to the car. Make sure you remove the license plates before your buyer drives away with the car.
