How To Start an Auto Detailing Business

The great thing about owning a business is the flexibility and freedom it offers.  Starting you own business isn’t easy and requires a lot of planning.  It’s very beneficial if you can start a business that’s high in demand and doesn’t need too much startup capital.  If you enjoy working with cars, you might want to think about starting an auto detailing business.

  1. Choose between a storefront or mobile business.  A mobile auto detailing business is in high demand as of late for the convenience in servicing customers at home, even service small businesses.  Or you can open a store at a physical location and serve many customers.

  2. Fill out an application for a business loan.  If you plan to open a storefront or mobile location, money is necessary to get it going.  A mobile business doesn’t need a lot of money, in particular if you already are in possession of a van or truck.

  3. Do research on auto detailing businesses.  In order to do a good job, you must know everything it takes to run not only a business, but one of this specialty.  If you are able, get a job at an auto detail shop and get some hands on experience with work and customer service.

  4. Purchase supplies.  Before you start the business, you need all the supplies the job entails.  If you want to start a mobile business, you must buy a portable water hose, for example.

  5. Market the auto detailing business.  A good idea would be to open the business in an area that has heavy traffic.  You can save money on advertising if you are located in a heavy traffic area.  When it comes to a mobile business, be sure to print some business cards and direct mail coupons and signage for the vehicle.

  6. Let the business grow and be patient.  A successful business takes time to grow, so don’t get discouraged at first.  If you planned correctly, you will reap the benefits down the road.
