How To Use Public Storage
Use Public Storage when you are traveling abroad, in between homes, remodeling or on a summer break from school. You can also store your car, boat or truck in some Public Storage locations to keep them safe from inclement weather and other dangers.
1. Determine the type and amount of items you need stored. If you're spending six months abroad, you may be storing all of your furniture and personal belongings. When remodeling a room in your house, you may be storing just a room of items.
2. Conduct a search for the ideal Public Storage location. Search online or look in your local phone book for a variety of options.
3. Compare Public Storage prices. You might find a cheaper alternative located further from your home. A higher priced space may be preferable if it offers temperature control, additional security and other features you consider important.
4. Reserve a storage space. Create an online account to make a reservation. Alternatively, call a 1-800 number to inquire about specific details and specials, or walk into any Public Storage location to make a reservation.
5. Purchase packing materials. Public Storage carries a wide variety of boxes, tape, bubble wrap and other materials needed to pack your items.
6. Ask about moving equipment. Public Storage makes available dollies, carts, furniture pads and any items necessary for safely moving belongings.
7. Purchase a lock or use your own. Placing your own lock on the storage room allows you to feel confident that no one can access your unit.
8. Review the Public Storage contract. Be sure that you understand and agree with all charges and terms of the month-to-month contract. Purchase insurance for added peace of mind.
