How to Adopt Zoo Animals

A visit to the zoo may inspire you to want to help take care of an animal that caught your eye. Whether the animal looked unhappy or seemed a little hungry peeked your interest that wouldn’t end once you left the zoo. No matter how your interest came to be, adopting a zoo animal is fun and rewarding. Sponsoring food and care for an animal will stimulate the animal lover in you!

1. Choose the animal you wish to adopt. Being that different animals may have different privileges, it is best to decide which animal you would like to adopt before finding out more information from the zoo on how to go about adoption.

2. Contact your local zoo to ask about its sponsoring services. Different zoos can have various programs that allow an animal sponsor to do different things. Be sure to ask if you will receive a certificate or t-shirt stating that you sponsor a specific animal. Don’t forget to ask if and how often you will be able to visit your animal once it is adopted.

3. Find out how much it will cost to adopt the animal that you have chosen. Most zoos adoption fees range from a meager twenty dollars to five thousand dollars. The size of the animal you chose will affect how much it will cost to assist in paying for its care and its food.

4. Fill out an adoption application provided by the zoo to adopt an animal. Send it by mail or take it in person back to the zoo with the proper amount for adoption. Be sure to inquire about forms of payment the zoo will accept. Once your application has been approved you can enjoy spending time with your new adopted friend.
