How to Advertise Boarding Kennels
When people with pets go on vacation, they need a place to store their pets for a while. Although some people may have friends who don't mind being pet sitters, not all people have that luxury. A boarding kennel can reach these customers using skillful advertising techniques.
1. Visit Local Vet Clinics. Make a list of all of the veterinary clinics within 50 miles of your boarding kennel. If the veterinary clinic has a bulletin board, place a color flyer on it that has a picture of your kennel, as well as notes on some of your kennel's selling points. Be sure to also display your price, taking care to not be any more expensive than your closest competitors.
2. Develop a Relationship with Local Veterinarians. This goes a step further than just putting your color flyer on a vet’s notice board. When you establish a good relationship with a local veterinarian, the veterinarian will be able to give you a word-of-mouth referral whenever the office doesn't have enough space to adequately kennel pets. Word of mouth is often the best advertising, especially coming from an authority figure such as a veterinarian, so this can often be more effective than other types of advertising.
3. Print Out and Spread Flyers. Since you have already printed out color flyers for vet offices, try spreading them locally. You can put them in pet stores as well as supermarkets. You can also consider distributing them at dog parks, with possibly even having a discount coupon available for people to try your service. Once people try your service and like it, they will often recommend you to their friends.
