How to Aim in Bowling
Bowling is fun for friends and family outings. It is also something that a person can learn to do in a very short time. Even first-time bowlers have the ability to pick up the game and do well the very first time. The object of bowling is to throw a ball down the lane in order to knock down as many pins as possible. Learning to aim is the most important part of the game. It is not very difficult once you experiment a bit.
- Stand where you are supposed to start. Notice where you are standing; after a particularly good throw you will know that is the best place for you to start. You may have to try different spots on the start line in order to find the best one for you.
- Look for the arrows that are painted on the lane. Many people find that it is easier to aim for the arrows on their first throw, instead of the pins. The arrows are closer to you which makes it easier.
- Which arrow you aim for depends on how you throw. If you throw a straight ball, aim for the middle arrow. If your ball curves to the left or the right, choose the left or right arrow.
- Once you decide on your arrow, aim the ball for it. Do not worry about the pins, just concentrate on hitting the arrow.
- After a couple of tries you should be able to see whether you have to adjust which arrow to aim for. You should also know where on the start line gives you the best throws.
- Once you have this information, remember it for each frame you bowl. Remember that this is for the first throw only, when there are ten pins up.
- For the second throw, you want to aim at the pins that are left standing. Look at the pins you want to hit, keep your eye on them from the moment you pick up the ball until it is released. Taking your eye off the pins for even a second, often throws off your aim.
