How to Apply Blush Makeup
Adding blush to your face is a great way to add vibrancy and color to an otherwise dull face. Blush is available in liquid or powder forms and is available in a variety of colors to match most any style choice. Applying blush is quick and rather easy to do.
- Before you apply the blush, look for a selection that best matches the natural glow of your cheeks after a strenuous activity. For a daytime look, a lighter color is best and for the evening, a darker tone is the best match for a more formal look. Consider taking your lipstick along with you when shopping for blush to keep the two in the same family.
- Think about what type of blush is best for your skin type. For drier skin, a cream blush works best to provide hydration. For oily skin, a powder-based blush is the better option to reduce oily flare-ups.
- Apply your foundation, powder and eye shadow to prepare your face for the blush. If you are using a powder based blush, use a round and thick brush for application. Using this type of brush will give you finished look.
- Dab the brush into the blush and put a small amount on the brush. Tape off any excess blush back into the container. If using a cream based blush, dab your finger into the container to get a small amount on your finger. Look into the mirror and smile.
- Apply the blush on your cheek, brushing upward toward your hairline. If you have a fuller face, start near your hairline and for higher cheekbones, start near the center of your face.
- For a more natural look, blend a little blush down your cheek.
