How to Apply Mascara

Mascara is one of the most popular cosmetics on the market. It defines, highlights and dramatizes the eyes and eyelashes. It is a great complement to other eye makeup you apply. There are many different formulas that define the lashes in many ways. This article will instruct you on how to apply mascara.

How to Apply Mascara

  1. Consider adding length to your eyelashes during the day. Wear thick or long-wearing mascara during the night.

  2. Choose a color based on your hair color. Use brown for red or blond lashes. Use brown, black or brown-black for dark lashes.

  3. Use an eyelash curler to curl your lashes. Apply all other eye makeup.

  4. Remove the wand from the tube of mascara. Avoid pumping the wand because it can dry the mascara and allow bacteria into the tube.

  5. Apply the mascara to the underside of your top lashes. Move the wand from the bottom to the tip of your lashes. Use slow strokes. Make sure you hold the wand parallel to your eyelid. Roll the brush in an upward motion to separate the lashes.

  6. Allow the mascara to dry then apply a second coat. Separate the lashes with an eyelash comb. Use a tissue to blot away excess mascara.

  7. Use less mascara on the bottom lid. Begin applying the mascara where the lash meets the rim of the lower eyelid. Stroke in a downward motion using gentle strokes.

  8. Use a cotton swap dipped in eye makeup remover to remove any excess mascara.
