How to Attach Spinning Rims
A spinning rim, or spinner, is installed onto a vehicle’s regular rim and is mounted on roller bearings. This allows the spinning rime to spin independent of the regular rim from momentum generated by the vehicle’s forward motion. The installation of spinning rims is a simple procedure requiring only the ability to remove and install the tire.
Items Needed:
- Lug wrench
- Floor jack
- Jack stands
- Spinning rims
- Socket wrench
- Loosen the lug nuts on the wheel with a lug wrench by turning the lug nuts counterclockwise by at least one full term. Raise the vehicle with a floor jack and support it safely on jack stands.
- Remove the lug nuts from the wheel of the vehicle, and pull the wheel from the wheel hub.
- Place the wheel on a flat work surface with the outer side of the wheel facing up. Place the spinning rim over the vehicle’s regular rim so that the holes in the spinning rim align with those on the regular rim.
- Attach the spinning rim to the regular rim of the vehicle according to the manufacturer's instructions. This generally involves fastening a set of mounts to the regular rim with a socket wrench. You will then attach the spinning rims to the mounts on the regular rims.
- Mount the wheel of the vehicle onto the wheel hub, and place the lug nuts into the holes on the rims. Fasten the lug nuts by hand.
- Remove the jack stands, and lower the vehicle with the floor jack. Tighten the lug nuts with the lug wrench. Repeat this procedure for the remaining three wheels.
