How to Automate eBay Shipping

Many people who run a business on eBay realize how time consuming and difficult the shipping process is. Most buyers make eBay payments through PayPal, which sends the shipping information directly to the seller. It is possible to streamline the sales process and automate shipping through eBay.

  1. Evaluate the shipping process. Shipping is composed of three steps - packaging, labeling and delivery to the shipping service. In order to automate the shipping process as much as possible, you will need to evaluate each step and create automatic, consistent steps in order to complete the shipping process.

  2. Package the products efficiently. Designate an area in your home to be used exclusively for packaging purposes. Organize all of the packing supplies and keep them accessible within the packaging area. You will need to package the products by hand or hire an assistant to handle this process for you. Having all of your supplies within reach and developing an efficient packaging method will greatly streamline this step.

  3. Print shipping labels from your computer. Use the PayPal shipping confirmation service to quickly print a shipping label. Attach the shipping label to the finished product package using label adhesive or packing tape.

  4. Deliver the packages to the shipping service. If you are using the United States Postal Service, they offer a package pick-up service for all flat-rate shipping boxes. If you are using a private delivery service, you will need to deliver the packages yourself. Determine which day or days each week you will complete this task. Load the packages ahead of time and stick to the shipping schedule that you choose.
