How to Beautify and Conceal Your Central Air Conditioner
A large central air conditioning unit may look unsightly on the outside of your home. If you do not enjoy the appearance of the air conditioning unit and the wires attached to it, you can conceal it to give it a beautiful appearance. Blend in your central air conditioner with some lattice board, tools and paint.
Items needed:
- Lattice board
- Tape measure
- Electric drill
- Paint color of your choice
- Screws
- Two-by-four boards
- Use your measuring tape to measure two sides of the central air conditioning unit. Measure around two adjacent sides of the unit, and add 6 inches to each measurement. Please note that these instructions are for a unit that needs covering on two adjacent sides. Duplicate the applicable steps if you need covering for three or four sides.
- Measure the height of the unit, and add 6 inches to this measurement.
- Visit a hardware store to purchase the amount of lattice board and the two-by-fours you need based on your measurements. Have an associate help you if you are unsure. You’ll also need to buy paint to paint the fencing. To conceal the unit, consider buying paint that matches the exterior of your home. Purchase one pound of screws, an electric drill and saw if you do not already have these items.
- Measure out all of the lattice board and two-by-four pieces based on your measurements, and cut the pieces with your saw. You’ll need three two-by-fours for the inside corner and outer edges of the object and four shorter two-by-four pieces to fit along the top and bottom of each wall.
- Use the electric drill and screws to attach all of the pieces appropriately.
- Spray paint the object with the color you’ve chosen, and allow it to dry for about 12 hours.
- Place the fencing around the air conditioning unit to conceal it.
