A Certified Event Planner works for corporations, firms, or hotels by planning and putting together weddings, corporation events, meetings and more. This career is on the fast track and expected to grow exceptionally by 2016. People who are interested in pursuing this career should gain experience through internships and applying to be a Certified Event Planner.

1. Get experience in event management. This is an important criteria to earning your accreditation in event planning through the Convention Industry Council. Two ways that you can gain this experience is working for an event planning company, or with a corporate planning event. You should apply for an internship if you don't have any experience in the industry.


2. Gain management responsibilities. You can do this by requesting to be project manager or a point person for a few major events. This can help prove your event planning abilities. 3. Join a professional organization. This is important because when you submit your application to be certified, it must show that you belong to a professional organization. 5. Take the certification exam.
