How to Become a Clutter Consultant
With new reality-TV shows focused on hoarders and cluttered spaces on the rise, it seems that becoming a clutter consultant and/or professional organizer is a lucrative profession. According to the United States Department of Labor, on average these consultants earn up to $50,000 each year.
How to Become a Clutter Consultant:
Step 1: Become certified as a clutter consultant.
The Board of Certification for Professional Organizers provides all coursework and exams for becoming board certified as a clutter consultant and/or professional organizer.
Step 2: Build a resume. Begin your services by organizing areas for your friends and family. Take before and after photographs of these areas for your portfolio.
Step 3: Place ads online and in your local newspaper advertising your services. If you have the capital, consider television ads for your local TV and radio stations.
Step 4: Post flyers and leave business cards in high traffic areas. For instance, you could leave business cards or flyers at local daycares, colleges and even the grocery store bulletin board.
