How to Borrow From Your Life Insurance Left
If you are the owner of a life insurance policy, you may borrow against the value. First, providing that it has any value, and second that you are the owner of the policy. Many people don’t realize that when the economy goes down, it can also affect the value of insurance savings plans as well.
- Take your insurance policy out and examine the clause that refers to your cash value in the policy. It will spell out what the terms of withdrawal are and should give you a basic idea of how much it grows. You could possibly even have a guarantee of how much the growth is and you can ball park to find out how much is in the policy.
- Locate contact numbers and names if possible and contact your insurance company. The policy should let you know how and when you can contact them and provide numbers for doing so.
- Call them and have your policy in hand. You will need to have the number and type available to give to your contact person. They will most likely ask you what you want to do and will direct you to the correct department or person.
- From this point forward the company will have all the information that you require on how much (if any) is available in the way of funds and how much of those funds you may withdraw at that point in time.
- Fill out the proper forms that they will mail you and within a specified period of time they will send you whatever money you are eligible at that time. If you have had your policy for a short period of time it is highly possible there will be no withdrawal possible.
