How to Build Big Skate Ramps

Skateboarding ramps come in a lot of different shapes and sizes. Skateboarding ramps bring life to skateboarding. Building ramps that are larger in size is a difficult task but it can be easily accomplished if you have the correct knowledge and experience on the subject.

  1. Figure out where you would like to build your skating ramp. They are impossible to be moved when they are complete, so you need to make sure that the area is where you would definitely like the ramp to be. Make sure that the area is level and dry before you start working on it.

  2. Build the bottom of the ramp. Pour concrete at the four corners of the bottom of the ramp to make sure that the ground is level. Rest the corners of the flat bottom on the concrete.

  3. Cut out the side panels from the plywood. Place them on top of the flat bottom piece. Using the 2-by-6s, frame the sides. Cut out a small piece from the top of the coping and frame the platforms.

  4. Put the platforms on the surfaces of the ramp. Cut out the sheets of plywood to make the curved angles. Cut off some of the plywood for the coping. Surface the bottom of the ramp with Skatelite. Surface the platforms using 2-by-4s. Add some railing for safety.

  5. Cut a metal pipe so that it fits your ramp and put it into the notch. Drill a punch hole in the pipe every foot. Clean off any dirt that you find on the ramp. Have the ramp tested and inspected to make sure that it is safe for people to ride on.
