How to Build Cycling Stamina
If you want to take cycling seriously, it is important that you build up the proper stamina. In order to build stamina there are a few different things during the week that you can do that range from easy to difficult.
- Begin a weightlifting regimen to build your core muscles. Important muscles to focus on are the calves, the legs and the quadriceps. In addition, you should work on the abdominal muscles, the triceps, back muscles, shoulder muscles and neck muscles. For a truly customized program, consider consulting a qualified personal trainer. As you work on your workout regimen keep track of your progress from week to week. You should notice yourself getting stronger, lifting more, and having a greater stamina than you did in the past.
- Add cardio or aerobic workouts into your schedule. Elevating your heart rate frequently through exercise helps to increase the length of time that you can perform continuous exercises. Exercises you may want to consider adding into your routine are rowing exercises, jogging, running on a treadmill, aerobic videos or aerobic classes.
- Allow your body to rest. In order for your body to get stronger, you need to allow it to rest in between training sessions. It is recommended to allow yourself two days off from riding per week and make sure to get adequate amounts of sleep each night.
- Eat properly and avoid foods that are bad for you. By eating properly you can properly build the muscles you need for better cycling stamina.
