How to Care for Metal Sheds

How to Build Metal Sheds

Metal sheds have finally come of age. They have finally evolved into sheds of many sizes and shapes and are relatively easy to both erect and maintain. If you are in need of one think about putting it up yourself.

  1. Check with your local authorities to determine whether you need a permit prior to erecting an outbuilding on your property.

  2. Put a floor down if you want one prior to erecting your shed. Most of the sheds do not include a floor.

  3. Remove all the contents from your parts box or boxes and spread them out. Make certain everything in the parts list is there before beginning your assembly.

  4. Do the floor frame assembly first. There will most likely be frame sections that slide into corner sections.

  5. Place the wall frame pieces together next along with the doorjamb supports and the roof beam ridge. Once the wall frame and roof parts are assembled you can line them up so they are square and secure with screws at that time, not before.

  6. Put the two gable sections together for the front and back. Now you can snap into place the middle brace sections and roof beams with the crossbeams.

  7. Place the wall panels into the channel in the frame. Connect the panels for the corners and snap into the other side of the channel. Put on the round corner panels and the connecting strips.

  8. Attach the roof panels at this time and their trim sections and secure with the screws. Place on the roof corners and the peak caps and you are finished.
