How to Build Outdoor Storage Cabinets
If you have many outdoor items to store, then building an outdoor storage cabinet would be a good idea. You can buy one but building allows you to put your personal style on it. Besides, building it is much less expensive than purchasing it.
Things You'll Need:
- Paint or stain
- Weatherproofing
- Door knobs
- Nails or screws
- Wood
- Hardware
Determine the things you want to put away in your outdoor storage cabinet. Hang the list on hooks or on a doorknob.
Understand the size of your outdoor storage cabinet. The length needs to be no less than the length of your storage items in addition to six inches. Width needs to extend enough to hold all of your things.
Discern how much wood will be required. You will need two parts that is width by height, two pieces that are width by depth, two parts that are depth by height and additional wood to make legs, shelves and borders.
Buy wood at a lumberyard. Buy other materials for instance, paint or stain, weatherproofing, door knobs, and nails or screws.
Calculate and cut each strip of wood so that you have a upper part, lower, back part with two sides. Join these strips of wood by means of screws or nails.
Cut the last strip the same dimension as the back for the door. You can make this in to one large door or cut it in half to make two little doors. Join the doors after that put on the door knobs.
Employ thin strips to make a border at the upper part and lower part of your cabinet and connect hardware for the doors to lock.
Connect legs to the foundation of the cabinet.
Paint or stain the wood to agree with your personal favorite. Apply sealant to weatherproof your outdoor storage cabinet.
