How to Build Plant Nurseries

A plant nursery is a great way to take care of trees, bushes, flowers and other beautiful plants. Plants in nurseries get extra attention and care to help them get big and healthy. A plant nursery can be started early every year as a garden. You can also start a nursery to grow plants to sell within your community.

Materials needed:

  • Garden tiller

  • Garden hoe

  • Small garden shovel

  • Fertilizer or compost

  • Mulch

  1. Till the land for your outdoor nursery. If you are going to be making nursery plots that are larger, use a tractor pull-behind tiller.

  2. Till the land again to mix the fertilizer or compost that you have into the soil of the nursery plot that you have just created. This will make sure that fresh nutrients are added to the soil. Nutrients are going to help increase the growth of the bushes and trees that you plant in the nursery.

  3. Using a small garden shovel or a garden how, dig holes to put seeds. Dig a hole that is appropriate for the plant that you are going to be planting. Most of the bushes and trees are going to come with directions on how to plant them.

  4. Cover the seeds up with the soil. Put a cover layer of fertilizer or compost after you have planted all of the plants that you would like. Apply some mulch to keep the roots of the entire plants warm in the winter months. This will increase the chances for them to survive.

  5. Using a hose, water the plants that you have just planted. Try to get into a normal routine and maintain a watering schedule.
