How to Build Plant's Nurseries
If you are interested in growing plants, you may want to consider building a plant nursery. This is simply an area, room or building where plants grow. The proper sunlight, water and temperature must be maintained for specific plants. Determine the type of plants you want to grow and then build a nursery that fits your needs.
- Set aside or mark off an area to become a plant nursery. This can be a section of a room, an entire room in the house, an area of land outside or a separate building.
- Till the land and mix potting soil in dirt, if creating an outdoor nursery. For indoor nurseries, gather pots and fill each one three-quarters full of potting soil.
- Create a hole in the ground or in the pot to plant the seed, bulb or starter piece. Be sure to plant it deep enough to grow, but not too deep that growth is stifled.
- Place the pots in a spot where it will get needed sunlight. Consider where the sun shines the most when planting a nursery outside. Some plants will require more sun than others to grow.
- Water plants on a daily basis. Some plants may need to be watered twice a day. As long as the soil is moist, plants will continue to grow. Dry soil or dirt will dehydrate a plant and eventually kill it.
- Set a daily routine of watering and caring for the plants in the nursery. In a short time, it will be a nursery full of plants to relocate, give away or sell. Strong, durable plants are desired by many homeowners and landscapers.
