How to Build Race Cars

There are different ways that you can race cars. Different kinds of races require different kinds of race cars. Building your own race car is something that is done by many people who choose to race cars. A person must be sure that the race car is built for the kind of racing that he or she will be taking part in.

1.Determine the kind of race that the race car will be used in. This will let you know what options must be included in the race car. A drag racing car will be built differently than a car that has to do 100 laps around a track. A car used in Formula racing has to be constructed with different things in mind when compared to other race cars.

2.Start with the body style. Modifying existing cars is much easier to do when building most race cars. Replace the heavier material with lighter material. This will include doors and other car panels. Using lighter material means that you will have to reinforce the impact areas of the car to prevent injury to the race car driver. Insert a harness into the driver's compartment. Remove the driver's side window and replace it with a safety net.

3.Replace the engine of the car. Place a engine in the car that puts out a lot of horsepower. Use a new engine. If you are building a drag racing car, putting an extremely large engine in your car is okay. A car used in drag racing does not have to turn.

4.Modify the steering wheel so that it is easily removed. Connect the steering wheel to a modified steering system. Axles should be replaced with stronger axles. The steering controls have to be extremely responsive. Place roll bars onto the car. Weld the roll bars to the race car.

5.Place high-quality racing tires on the race car. The tires have to be able to withstand high speeds and extreme temperatures.
