How to Build Tree House Furniture

It is important when finishing your tree house to have the proper furnishing. Tree house furniture should be portable and easy to move. Since a tree house typically has limited access. Build your pieces so they can be easily transported or lifted. An inexpensive idea to consider is to build your furniture from chunks of natural wood or tree limbs.

Supplies

  • Tree limbs

  • Saw

  • Wood glue

  • Plywood

  • Nails

  • Hammer

  1. Walk through the woods and locate some large limbs or broken stumps for your furniture. The limbs should be a minimum of 12 inches in diameter.

  2. Saw up your large tree limbs until they are 18 inches in length. The cuts should be clean, and even as possible, as these pieces will serve as seats for your tree house.

  3. Check each log to make sure it sits evenly before lifting it into your tree house. If the piece moves back and forth when you sit on it, try turning if over to see if the other end makes a solid base. If neither is solid, use your saw to remove a bit of the stump until it is level.

  4. Cut as many as the number of seats you desire for your tree house.

  5. Saw three additional rounds using the same procedure as for the chairs. This will be for your table base. Make sure they are stable.

  6. Cut the piece of 1/4 inch plywood to your desired size.

  7. Take each of the tree stump rounds up to the tree house before assembling the top on the table. This will make transporting the items easier.

  8. Set the base of the table into a triangle formation. Glue the plywood  to your tree stump base. This will keep the top from accidentally being tipped over. You can also nail it into the base to create further stability.

  9. Bring up your remaining chair pieces.

  10. Arrange your furniture in your tree house according to your design preference.
