How to Create Storage Furniture for Keepsakes

How to Build Unusual Storage Furniture

Most people find their homes filled with too many items and no place to keep them. Rather than installing shelves on your walls or piling boxes in the garage, you can instead build storage spaces into your furniture. This will help to keep your storage from view and provide you with a simple way to keep your home organized.

  1. Determine what items you want to store and choose the appropriate space for them. For example, photo boxes can be placed in the living room so that they can be easily accessible to visitors, while toys can be kept in the playroom or bedroom.

  2. Find a desk or table that can be put in the selected room. Placed in a kitchen or dining room the table or desk may be used for serving dishes. But in the living room it can be used to hold flowers, pictures, or a lamp surface. It can be used as a bedside table in the bedroom.

  3. Fix shelves under the table. Affix two brackets onto each side of the table. Attach a shelf to each of the sets of brackets. For an easier solution, place plastic drawers or shelves beneath the table.

  4. Get measurements of the table. Take a measurement of each side of the table and then add all four measurements together. Also, measure the table's height. Prepare a piece of fabric with these measurements.

  5. Affix the fabric to the table so that it wraps around the table. Use double-sided fabric tape to do this. You can also affix the edges of the fabric using the fabric tape. This fabric covering will help to hide your storage and at same time provide a decorative piece of furniture for the room.
