How to Build Your Own 3D Glasses

Several film production companies have elected to create at least one 3D version of some of their best film franchises. Among these franchises is the Lions Gate Films and Twisted Pictures production "Saw." Unfortunately a portion of the DVD releases of these films are not accompanied by the required 3D glasses.

  • Card stock or thick construction paper

  • Sheers

  • One glue stick

  • Red and blue sheets of cellophane

  1. Load the card stock or thick construction paper into the paper dock of your printer. Ensure that it is properly aligned according to your printer's specifications.

  2. Download a 3D glasses template from paperproject.org or any website of your choice providing these templates.

  3. Press Ctrl and the letter P on your keyboard after the file loads on your screen. Select "Print" from the options. Wait for the template to print.

  4. Use the outline of the 3D glasses template to properly cut out each section of the 3D glasses including the eyeholes.

  5. Use each eye section of the 3D glasses template to properly cut one blue and one red section of the cellophane.

  6. Apply a layer of glue all the way around each eye section of the 3D glasses using the glue stick.

  7. Press the blue piece of cellophane onto the left eye section of the 3D glasses. Hold the cellophane firmly in place to ensure that it adheres properly.

  8. Press the red piece of cellophane onto the right eye section of the 3D glasses. Hold the cellophane firmly in place to ensure that it adheres properly.

  9. Trim all excess cellophane from around each eye section.

  10. Bend the side creases on each side of the eye section following the lines found on each side. Repeat this step for both earpieces.

  11. Apply a layer of glue on the inside of each side crease on the eye section. Press one earpiece against the glue on each side crease and hold firmly to ensure that the pieces are securely attached.
