How to Build a Mobile Home Park

Building a mobile home park is a very wise business investment. A typical mobile home park will not require the owner to be very involved, and there is very little upkeep required of the owner. While mobile home parks do cost a lot of money to build, the money that you will receive back will make the investment worth every penny.

  1. Buy land. It is important that you own your own land and that it is large enough to hold a number of mobile homes. Not all land can be used to build a mobile home park, which is why you need to check the restrictions on certain places for sale before you make the final purchase. The land should be several acres so you can guarantee there is enough room for streets and all of the mobile homes.

  2. Hire a contractor or architect. It is important that you hire a professional that specializes in building mobile home parks, because they are different than building a single house on land. Be sure to zone off individual spaces where each mobile home will go. They should be large enough to fit the home and have enough room for a drive way and a small yard. You may even have enough room to place a pool or playground, which would mean you can charge people more money to live there.

  3. Get a loan to help you pay for the land and other expenses. Unless you are wealthy, you cannot afford to build a mobile home park without help. If you cannot get a loan, you will have to slowly build the park up by excepting one home at a time until you can afford to expand.
