How to Build a Muscle Car Engine

No matter how small your car is, everyone desires a powerful engine. A muscle car engine allows your car no matter the model to have a huge cubic inch engine, be able to run a horsepower, have tires that are shredding and have a thunderous exhaust system. This is possible by upgrading the normal engine to a power plant.

  1. Get a large engine block that is displaced. The large engine will ensure that the potential of your engine is more powerful. Any engine that is beyond 460 inches would do. They come when they have been cleared allowing you to achieve higher cubic inches of up to 900 for big block power engines.

  2. Install a strong rotating assembly. These include pistons, piston rings, rods, a crankshaft and piston wrist pins. They form the basic foundation of the engine. Buy a forged billet-steel crankshaft, forged rods and forged aluminum pistols to create a bullet proof bottom. The rotating assembly and the engine block determine the engine output or the power of your engine.

  3. Install free-flowing heads. Your car having bigger cylinder heads and exhaust pots will allow sufficient airflow that will ensure that the engine’s horsepower has more power. Due to the potential power output of the engine of your car, avoid aluminum heads with iron block. This is because they expand and contract when heated leading to the blowing up of the head gaskets in some cases. Get a combustion chamber that is about 9.5 or a 10 to 1 ratio of compression to use in your street gas.

  4. Install a header, matched intake manifold and camshaft. The camshaft works as the processing unit of your car’s engine, larger camshaft lobes are ideal because they open the valves more and for longer. This raises the optimum rpm of the engine. Ensure that you buy intake manifolds and exhaust headers that work along with the camshaft.
