How to Build a Radio Control Car

A radio control car can be a lot of fun. However, those that you purchase from a store will have limitations to them. For this reason, you may want to consider taking some time to build your own radio control car.

Things That You Will Need

  • A RC car tool set

  • A RC car body

  • A RC car chassis

  • Wheels

  • Paint

  • Glue

  • An engine

  • A battery or fuel RC unit

1.Choose the body kit that you want to use for building your vehicle. This will be the shell. Some shells will need to be painted or have decals applied while others will already have this done for you.

2.Find a chassis that you want to use. This is your vehicle's frame and it also contains the wheel base and shock system. It is responsible for supporting the engine, fuel source, battery pack, wheels and body shell.

3.Purchase an engine. Decide whether you want one that is electric or gas powered. Keep in mind that gas engines are loud but powerful. If you are going to be outside, this will be fine but for indoor use, you should opt for an electric engine.

4.Get the electronics that your RC vehicle will need. This includes a radio control unit that will fit in the chassis and a controller that offers the correct range.

5.Start assembling your RC vehicle by putting the shocks and wheels on the wheelbase.

6.Install your engine using the wheel mounts that came with it.

7.Connect the engine to the battery pack and secure the battery pack into place.

8.Attach the body shell to the chassis with the body clips.

9.Take your new RC vehicle for a test drive.
