How to Build a Wrought Iron Fence
Wrought iron fences are a more durable alternative than wooden fences. Both designs are well constructed and durable. However, a wrought iron fence design does not require as much upkeep as a wooden fence design. Wooden fences often splinter, warp, and rot due to weather conditions. Whereas, wrought iron fence designs stand the test of time.
How to Build a Wrought Iron Fence:
Step 1: Select your wrought iron fence design. Catalogs for these designs are available at your local home improvement store.
Step 2: Dig your holes for your fence posts, according to your wrought iron fence design. Most designs suggest that you set your posts at least six inches apart. The holes should measure at least three feet deep.
Step 3: Place your fence posts at least 1/3 of the way into the holes. Pour concrete into the holes once your fence posts are in place. Allow the concrete to dry for at least 24 hours.
Step 4: Attach the railings, according to your wrought iron fence design. Use the provided screws to attach the railings to the fence posts.
Step 5: Install the fence gate as instructed in your wrought iron fence design. There are holes drilled in the fence gate for this installation. The fence gate brackets are included in the packaging that came with your wrought iron fence.
