How to Buy Antique Guns
A person who is a gun enthusiast may want to buy an antique gun for a collection. There are many different antique guns available to purchase for a wide range of prices. Some guns are more valuable than others, due to their condition or the demand for the gun from private collectors.
- Decide what type of antique gun you want to buy for your collection. Check for websites that sell antique guns and review the current inventory. Sort the antique guns by price or by the type of gun that interests you. Make a seller an offer if you see a gun that you like.
- Find an antique auction in your city and look for guns coming up for bid. Go to the auction on the day that the gun comes onto the block and register to bid. Set a maximum amount that you will pay for the gun and do not go over that amount if the bidding drives up the price.
- Read through gun magazines to look for antique guns. If you find a gun that interests you, contact the seller and ask if you can see some pictures of the gun. If the seller lives nearby, arrange a time to meet so you can inspect the gun in person.
- Look over an antique gun that you want to buy to see if you want to make the seller an offer. Ask the seller if the gun still works. Even if you do not intend to discharge the weapon once you own it, having an antique gun that shoots will make it easier to find a buyer if you decide to sell it at a later date.
- Negotiate the sales price with the seller if you decide that you want to buy the gun. Keep in mind the maximum price that you can afford while you negotiate the price. If you can get the seller to come down to your price range, decide if you want to accept the offer or to pass and continue your search.
