How to Buy Used Tires in Quantity
Wholesalers sell tires in quantities. Most wholesalers would like for the individual or company wishing to purchase tires in quantity to fill out an inquiry form. The form details the amount of tires needed, sizes preferred and tread wear. Orders range from small to tractor-trailer beds loaded with tires.
- Perform two searches in your favorite search engine, using the terms "wholesale tires" and "junkyards." This will locate businesses close to your local area that sell tires in quantity. You may elect to search additional areas. Simply enter the area with city and state, followed by the terms wholesale tires or junkyards
- Contact the companies listed for your area and visit their website if they have one. Prices may differ from company to company. One company may have better prices, but poorer stock.
- Perform a Better Business Bureau search on the companies to ensure they are legitimate.
- Fill out the inquiry form online, if applicable. Otherwise write down a list of questions you will ask the wholesaler. Make a note of the name of the person you speak with. Most wholesalers or salvage tire sellers do not have a return policy. Many handpick their tires to reduce the number of tires deemed unusable. Despite this additional caution, a bad few tires end up with good stock.
- Place your order. In some cases, you may find yourself purchasing from more than one dealer depending upon stock, availability and pricing.
- Determine how you will dispose of tires that cannot be reused. Use an ethical approach. For example, you may consider recycling the tires or finding another use for them.
