How to Calculate Body Fat Loss
When you are trying to lose weight, it is extremely helpful to document various aspects of the process. This includes the amount of fat that you lose, the number of pounds and inches that you lose from each area. There are a few different ways for you to go about calculating the body fat you have lost.
Things You Will Need:
- Tape measure
- Caliper
- BMI device
- Measure the various parts of your body on a set schedule. For instance, measure the amount of inches it takes to wrap around your arm and keep up with any changes that occur over time as you lose weight. The same goes for other body parts that include your waist and thighs. This represents one way that some people report their body fat loss calculations.
- Pinch the various areas of your body with calipers. This method is an older approach to measuring body fat loss. This method measures your Body Mass Index (BMI), which decreases as you lose weight and gain muscle. The arms are pinched because this is the area that loses weight first.
- Measure your body fat loss through an electrical device. This more modern approach allows you to simply hold the device with two hands straight out in front of you. Before measuring the body fat percentage, you must first enter your age, weight and height in order for all aspects to be considered. Take this approach to measure your body fat percentage on a weekly or monthly basis to determine the amount of fat you are losing throughout the weight loss and toning program you are participating in.
