How to Calculate the Weight of Breast Implants
One of the most popular plastic surgery procedures is women's breast augmentation. There are a variety of implant sizes and types to choose from, and these will vary in weight. If you have undergone breast implant surgery and are curious about the weight of the implants, you can determine this easily with a couple of simple mathematical formulas.
Calculating the weight of your breast implants is simple. The two things you have to know are the type of breast implant that was used (silicone or saline) and the size of the implants (typically measured in units of cubic centimeters).
- Determine the size of your implants by knowing how many cubic centimeters (CCs) your surgeon used in your breast implants. You probably know this information, but if you do not, contact your doctor's office and inquire.
- If your implants are filled with saline, multiply the number of cubic centimeters by two. Divide this number by 29.574. Divide this number by 16. This will give you the weight of both implants in pounds.
- If your implants are filled with silicone, multiply the number of cubic centimeters by two. Multiply that number by .0375. Divide that number by 16. This will give you the weight of both breast implants in pounds.
Tip:
- If you did not get same-sized breast implants on both sides, you will need to alter the equations just slightly. Instead of multiplying the CCs by two at the beginning, complete the rest of the computation for each implant and then add the two totals up at the end.
