How to Call a Towing Service
If your car breaks down on a busy street or on a side road, it needs to be moved quickly to prevent car accidents. If there is no way you can get your car started, you can call a towing service to come move the car for you wherever you want it to go, such as to a mechanic.
- Call information on your cell phone and ask for a towing service phone number. If you do not have a cell phone, you will have to walk to the nearest phone to make the call. If you are at a phone booth, use the phonebook to look up the phone number of a towing service.
- Call the towing service and explain to them that your car is broken down and you need them to pick it up. Give them the address of where the vehicle is sitting and wait for them to come. It may take some time, depending upon how busy they are.
- Call someone else to pick up you while you are waiting for the tow truck. The towing service will take your car where you tell them, but you will also need a ride. Most towing services will not allow you to ride with them due to insurance reasons.
- Watch for the tow truck to arrive. If you are watching for it, you can flag them down when you see them coming. Once they arrive, you will have to pay them the fee for towing your vehicle. Give them the address of where you want the car towed.
