How to Care For and Maintain Carpet Cleaning Machines
Carpet cleaning machines are useful when cleaning up all kinds of messes on your carpets including wine spills, tracked in mud, food stains, oil messes and a multitude of other carpet catastrophes. While cleaning your carpets, your carpet machine will eventually start to accumulate hair and other gunk. This causes the machine to perform poorly.
Items to gather:
- Carpet machine product manual
- Flathead or Phillips screwdriver
- Coat hanger wire
- Rags
Instructions:
- Consult your specific carpet machine's product manual. The manual will detail the proper and specific instructions for cleaning your machine.
- Empty the dirt or waste container on your carpet machine according to the machine product directions. Empty the contents into the trash or down the toilet if the waste is liquid. Do not empty anything down the drain that shouldn't go down the drain such as poisonous chemicals. If using a liquid waste container, rinse it out thoroughly.
- Use a Flathead or Phillips screwdriver to loosen the screws on the sides, back and front of your carpet cleaning machine. If you have latches, simply remove them.
- Reach up into the brush cavity under the carpet cleaner with a coat hanger wire to remove any hard to get hair clumps, or other collected gunk.
- Wipe down your carpet machine on the outside with wet rags.
- Wrap the electrical cord around the carpet machine cord rests and place the machine away from children or pets.
- Perform this cleaning procedure as needed, or as instructed to do so by your product manual to maintain your carpet cleaning machine.
