How to Change a Hyundai Motor Wiper
The Hyundai is equipped with an uncomplicated motor wiper that is easy to operate and to replace. It is not uncommon for the motor wiper to fail if you have owned your Hyundai for a decent amount of time. Most auto part stores carry replacement motor wipers in-stock; however, you will need to know the model and year of your Hyundai.
Things You’ll Need:
- Socket wrench
- Socket set
- Pliers
- Cloth gloves
- Disconnect the negative battery cable underneath the hood of the Hyundai. Loosen the nut of the cable clamp with a socket wrench. Gently pull the clamp off of the battery terminal. For safety reasons, it is best to wear a pair of cloth gloves to protect your hands.
- Locate the motor for the desired wiper. The electrical connector will need to be pulled off, but do so with caution. By yanking the electrical connector, you could cause serious damage.
- Observe the four bolts that hold the motor wiper to the firewall. Remove the four bolts with a socket wrench. To prevent stripping of the bolts, make slow turning movements as the bolts loosen.
- Draw the motor off the firewall with ease. The motor wiper will only extend so far because it is still attached to the pivot arm on the wiper assembly. Pulling too hard can cause damage to the wiper assembly.
- Take the pliers and grab a hold of the fastening nipple on the back of the motor. Pull back on the nipple with ease. Gently pry the pliers between the pivot arm and the motor. Separate the motor away from the pivot arm with moderate wedging.
- Install the new motor wiper. It is similar to the removal of the motor wiper, but repeats the steps in reverse. The motor and pivot arm connection should slide together with little force.
