How to Check on Tax Relief Checks
If you wish to check on your tax refund you can do that fairly easily. The title of this is misleading as the tax relief checks were only mailed out once and that period has passed. Unless there is another tax stimulus there won’t be any more actual tax relief checks in the future. You can check on your tax refund however.
- Type in ‘IRS’ into your search engine. When you locate the IRS.gov website click on it.
- Click on the “Where’s My Refund” link on the site (it is about the middle of the page on the right hand side). This will take you to the “Where’s My Refund” page and there is a link there to advance to get to your refund status page. There is also a link to “About Where’s My Refund” page for more information.
- Fill in the info on the refund status page and you will need your 1040 handy as you need to know what the exact amount of the refund is on the form.
- Type in your social security number, your filing status and the amount of your refund that is due. Click on the submit button to find out the status of your refund.
- Call the IRS if you were supposed to get a stimulus check and did not to see what happened to it. Their number is 866-234-2942. You can see if there is a check in your name that is still outstanding. They will require some information so be prepared to have it ready when you call them. They will give you any information they have regarding your check.
