How to Choose an Auto Delivery Company

How to Check the Status of an Auto Delivery

Checking the status of an auto delivery can help the owner know when to be available to receive the vehicle. Many delivery companies issue a tracking number when a client signs the contract. The client can then go online and type the number into a search field to pull up the delivery status.

  1. Write down when you can expect to take delivery of your auto at the time that you sign the contract with the delivery service. If you forget to write down the information, the exact date of the delivery may be on your contract. If you are using a driveaway service, try to get in touch with the driver by phone to determine the delivery date.

  2. Find out if you can check the auto delivery status online. Review your paperwork to look for the website where you can check on the delivery. Open a web browser and enter the website address, then type in the number of your delivery to check the status.

  3. Refresh your browser to get an update on the delivery status. If the delivery company provides their drivers with a GPS, you may be able to see how close the truck is to your area. Follow the progress so you know when to take delivery of your auto.

  4. Call the auto delivery company if there is not a website available to check. Give the phone clerk your delivery number and find out the status of the vehicle. If the delivery date is different from what you were told, find out the new date and write it down.

  5. Check to make sure you can be available to receive the car on the new delivery date. Advise the delivery company if you need to change the date. You may be able to have someone else take delivery of the car if you cannot take delivery yourself. Give your consent over the phone, or fax a consent form to the delivery company instead.
