How to Choose Audio/Visual Racks

Using an audio/visual rack is a way to organize a home entertainment or stereo system and the media that the device plays. Most people choose a rack based on their taste in furniture so it looks good in a media room. Shopping at different stores is the best way to find the right rack to buy.

  • Choose a style for your audio/visual rack. For example, if you like contemporary furnishings in your home, you may want to buy a metal rack for your equipment and media. Measure the wall where you want to place the rack to determine what size you need.

  • Pick the number of shelves you want on the rack. Buy an audio/visual rack that has adjustable shelving so you have enough space for your equipment. You may also need to adjust the shelf sizes if you are in the process of building a collection of DVDs or CDs.

  • Decide where to put your media disks. You can either place the disks on several of the shelves or buy a rack that has a drawer or cabinet. If you have a lot of CDs and DVDs you may want to measure them to make sure you buy a rack that has a large enough storage compartment.

  • Look online to find some audio/visual racks to help you choose one to buy. Check the price of a rack you like to see if it is within your budget. Bookmark the website so you can buy the rack online if you cannot find one for a better price locally.

  • Go to an electronics store to choose a rack. Take the information on your wall dimensions with you so you know the right size to choose. Buy the rack if the store has a cheaper price than the website you checked. Once you put the rack together you can start to position your audio/visual equipment on the shelves.
