How to Choose Dentistry Dentures
If you have missing teeth and are looking to replace them, dentures are a perfect solution for you. Dentures fall into two categories: complete and partial. A complete set of dentures would replace all of the natural teeth that are in your mouth, while partial dentures can be used to replace a few select teeth that are missing. Dentures can provide you with a beautiful smile and help you feel good about your appearance.
1. Make an appointment with your dentist. Before you decide to purchase a set of dentures you will need to consult with your dentist first. The dentist will perform a routine exam and determine if dentures are the solution to your oral health needs.
2. Decide whether you want a complete set or a partial set of dentures. The dentist will determine whether or not you require a complete or partial set of dentures. If every tooth in your mouth is beyond repair they will most likely recommend a complete set. If you have one or two teeth missing, a partial set will suffice.
3. Check to see what your insurance will cover. Not all insurance companies cover the cost of dentures. Before you proceed with the purchase find out what they will pay for.
4. Schedule a follow up appointment. After you decide what type of dentures you will wear, the dentist will make a mold of your mouth and send it off to a lab. The lab will create your dentures and send it back to your dentist. At your appointment, the dentist will fit the new dentures into your mouth.
5. Make certain that you are comfortable with your dentures. A lot of times, patients are uncomfortable with their new dentures, and in some instances the dentures have to be sent back to the lab for reforming.
6. Discuss a treatment plan with your dentist. It takes time for your mouth to adjust to having dentures. Note all of your concerns with your dentist and he will go over how to take care of your dentures.
7. Schedule routine follow up exams. Dentures do not last forever and it is important to see your dentist on a regular basis to ensure that you are caring for the dentures properly.
