How to Choose Snow Tires
When winter rolls around and the snow starts falling, most drivers will need a new set of tires to keep them safe in the incliment weather. Winter tires will keep you safe from slippery ice, unplowed snow and and slush with added traction.
- Check out your vehicle owner manual. You will need to know the cars specs on tires the vehicle takes as well as the sizes.
- Figure out how much you are willing to spend on your new tires. Snow tires can cost anywhere from $65.00 each to $200.00 each, depending on the manufacturer and where you purchase them from. Be sure to find out if the price includes installation. Installation and alignment of the new tires can add to your overall cost and if you have a strict budget can eliminate some expensive tires.
- Do some research. Call some automotive companies that sell tires. Ask if there are any current discounts or sales occurring.
- Talk to the representative of these companies on the phone, ask them for advice and suggestions of what type of tires would be suitable for your vehicle's make and model. If they have tires that will fit your vehicle and the price is within your range then make an appointment and get your new snow tires.
- Remember to ask about the traction on the tires before you purchase them, as traction is very important when it comes to slippery roads. Always make sure all four of the tires are from the same exact manufacturer.
