How to Choose Wedding Centerpieces
When planning a wedding there are numerous decisions that must be made in order to achieve the perfect look and feel for such an important day. One of those decisions is choosing the right wedding centerpieces. Although this is crucial in terms of the look of your reception, it doesn't have to be difficult if you take certain things into consideration.
- Consider your budget. If you haven't already established a budget, do so prior to selecting your centerpieces. This will help you to avoid overspending.
- Decide if you want floral centerpieces of if you would prefer non-floral arrangements such as candles. If you are uncertain, look through wedding magazines and visit florists to look at different centerpieces for inspiration. Keep in mind any specific mood or theme that you want for the reception.
- Select flowers that are currently in season, if you are going the floral route. The flowers should also complement the wedding color scheme and the rest of the décor at the reception.
- Take the venue into consideration when deciding on your centerpiece. Is it a rustic setting or a more modern, trendy hotel? Looking at the overall venue will help you to select centerpieces that won't clash with their surroundings.
- Consider the height of your arrangements. They should not be so tall that they hinder the guests from viewing the person sitting across from them. Also judge the height of the ceiling. Is the reception being held in a room with a high ceiling? Are there chandeliers that are hanging above the tables? Are there low hanging lights, particularly in outdoor tents? Answering these questions will also help when determining how tall your arrangements should be.
- Contemplate the size of the tables when choosing your centerpieces. A large table can best handle more of a centerpiece than a smaller one. However, avoid arrangements that are too large or too small. Overly large pieces can be overdone and tacky, while smaller pieces can fail to make any impact at all.
