How to Choose a Bra Shop
Finding a proper fitting bra can be a difficult challenge. In fact, it is reported that 80 to 85 percent of women are wearing the wrong bra size. If you can’t find the right bra shop, it can be even more difficult to find the bra for you. Choosing a bra shop is a matter of personal preference; however, here are some recommendations you should consider when selecting your bra shop.
- Determine how much you want to spend on your bra as bras can range in price from only a few dollars to hundreds of dollars. Purchasing the cheapest bra you can find may lead to frequent bra shopping, as they may be low quality and cheaply made. However, you don’t have to spend hundreds to find a good bra either. There are several brands in the intermediate price range that are affordable yet durable. Look for shops that carry bras in your price range.
- Consider if you want help choosing a bra when you are shopping. Some department stores offer no help whereas stores that only carry lingerie may have associates that will measure you and suggest bras that would fit your body type. If you are timid and like to shop alone, choose a store that is larger that carries other products, as you are less likely to be bothered. If you want help and suggestions, try a store that strictly carries lingerie.
- Decide if you only want a store that carries one brand or several brands. You may have a better chance of finding a bra that fits you if there are more selections to choose from, but if you have a go-to brand, stick with it. Some brands offer outlet stores where you can find discontinued or heavily discounted items.
- Figure out if you need a specialty bra. Some shops may not carry plus sizes or nursing bras whereas other stores may specialize only in mastectomy bras. These needs are important to consider when selecting your bra shop.
- Ask the shop if they have a mail order catalog or an online store if these are important selling points for you. Some people would much rather do their shopping with the click of a mouse rather than tromping through a mall. If you know what size you are and know you like the brand the shop carries, mail ordering or online shopping may be better options for you.
