How to Choose an Inpatient Drug Rehab Center

How to Choose a Drug Rehab Center

There are over twenty five thousand drug and rehab centers in The United States alone.  Many drug and rehabilitation programs offer different methods and techniques for their patients to recover from their addiction; however, the most important factor is the motivation and determination of the patient.

  1. Admit you have a problem.  The first step to a successful rehabilitation is to come to terms with the fact that you have an addiction.  It will make treatment that much easier after you give up on denial and make a life changing choice to change.

  2. Figure out what type of rehab will suite you best.   It is usually best to consult with your doctor and ask for a referral to a rehab that he or she feels would be the best treatment for you.  There are several inpatient and outpatient programs available.  There are also a number of different methodologies such as: medical treatment, holistic treatment, cognitive therapy, twelve steps, behavior modification, bio-physical treatment, religious based treatment and creative arts therapy.

  3. Pick out the rehab that makes you most comfortable and admit yourself into the facility.  You may want to enter in a facility closer to home or maybe you feel one quite a distance away will be best.

  4. Pay for your treatment.  It can be hard financially but there are options for you.  Speak with a representative from your insurance company, as some insurance companies will pay for treatment either fully or partially.  If you do not have insurance then consult with your state agency and they will provide a list of options for you.

  5. Prepare for your stay.  Make sure you are mentally and physically prepared to go through this process as it can be strenuous.  With some motivation from your loved ones, determination and good faith, you will come out of rehab as a changed person.
